Two human figures carved from ivory. The ornament or okimono depicts a seated man wearing a kimono. The man is holding a large book and there is an abacus to his right. Seated next to him is the figure of a child preparing an inkstone. A basket next to the two figures contains fish and vegetables.
Japanese characters have been incised into the base of the figure.
