Vase, flowers, porcelain, painted by Fred Walklate, made by Doulton & Co, England, Burslem, 1891-1902.
A vase composed of wheel thrown white porcelain with a cylindrcial body, bearing a decoration of white flowers. Ring base rising to a tall, cylindrical body, with a flared lip. The body is decorated in low relief with white flowers and dark blue foliage, on a pale blue background, with clear overglaze. The rim is edged in gold and below the interior rim is a gold ladder pattern.
Marks
Maker's trademark on base, transfer printed in green, crown surmounting irregular circle shape, with text 'DOULTON / BURSLEM' encircling central motif of four interlooping 'D's, with text 'England' below. Maker's number on base, inscribed text '739'. Painter's signature on lower body, handwritten in green paint 'FWalklate'.
