Description
Plate, garlands, scrolls and roses, porcelain, painted by Charles Hart, made by Royal Doulton, Burslem, England, 1902-1914.

A bone china plate, decorated with gold garlands and scrolls and pink roses. A circular foot ring rises to a concave upper face, with a shallow well and wide border. The border is decorated with garlands and scrolls in raised gold and outlined in turquoise. Beneath each scroll is painted a spray of pink roses. The rim is edged in gold and seeded gold and the foot ring is edged in gold.

Maker's trademark on base, transfer printed in purple, lion on top of crown surmounting text 'ROYAL DOULTON / ENGLAND' encircling central motif of four interlinked 'D's. Maker's number impressed on base '7- [illegible]'. Maker's mark written on base, in black ink 'E'. Starburst paper label adhered to back, written in pencil 'C H / T/T/'. Circular paper label adhered to base, printed in brown, with the number written in black ink 'ROYAL DOULTON / - / John Slater Collection No...492'.
