Tureen and cover, flowers and scrolls, porcelain (bone china), painted by Walter Slater, made by Doulton & Co, Burslem, England, 1892

A tureen, made from moulded, fine bone china, with a squared, body, bearing a decoration of flowers and rococo scrolls. Four scroll feet at the corner of a squared base, rise to squared, squat body, with curved walls and rounded corners. The walls rise to a raised lip, with a ledge on the interior to hold the cover. Two vertical wide scroll handles are attached to the sides, with moulded rococo scrolling relief below the handles. The exterior of the tureen is divided into four oval panels, each painted with a different scene of flowers, mainly in yellow, white and pink, with green foliage, on a pale blue and white background. Each panel is edged in gold seeding and bordered at the top in pink and at the bottom in yellow. A spray of pink and red roses decorates each upper corner. The base and feet are edged in moulded scrolls, mainly in pink and outlined in seeded gold. The exterior rim is decorated in seeded gold and the handles and moulded scrolls below are painted pink and yellow and outlined in gold dots, with pink and yellow flowers, also outlined in gold dots. The interior rim is lined in a band of gold dots and the interior ledge is edged in gold.

A cover for a tureen, made from moulded fine bone china, with a squared body, bearing a decoration of flowers and rococo scrolls. Four squared sides rise to form a convex cover, with a central moulded scroll handle and moulded scroll decoration. The exterior of the cover is divided into four sections by moulded rococo scrolls and raised flowers, painted in pink and yellow and edged in gold dots. Each section is painted with flowers, mainly in pink, yellow and white, with green foliage, on a pale blue and white background. The four corners of the tureen are decorated with sprays of red and pink roses on a pale yellow background. The handle is decorated in pink and yellow, edged in gold seedingand at the junction to the cover, are raised pink flowers outlined in gold dots. The rim is edged in gold.
