Comport, rococo shell shape, porcelain, made by Doulton and Co, Burslem, England, 1885-1891.
A comport, made from moulded fine bone china, featuring a shell-shaped body on a rococo stand. An elaborate, free-form, rococo scroll stand is attached to the base of an oval, shell-shaped dish, with a flaring, undulating rim. A rococo, shell-shaped handle is attached at the back. The stand and the handle are painted on the exterior in matt grey and green. The shell dish is plain white, with the rim edged in gold and the interior rim is decorated in clouded gold.

Marks
Maker's trademark on base, transfer printed in brown, crown surmounting irregular circle shape, with text 'DOULTON / BURSLEM' encircling central motif of four interlooping 'D's. Maker's marks and number on base, transfer printed in brown, outline of the shape of comport, with number at centre 'Rd No122889'.
