Vase, 'Voices of the Night', stoneware, attributed to George Tinworth, made by Doulton and Co, Lambeth, London, England, 1876.
Two handled vase of salt glazed stoneware. Glazed cobalt blue and brown. Modelled in high relief. The neck has applied winged cherubs, each with a wreath around its waist. The shoulders are applied with owls, their wings outstretched. The body is incised and carved with studded spear shaped motifs against a foliate background. The base is decorated with a row of winged cherubs seated cross legged. Maker's mark under base.

Under base, maker's mark, impressed circular Doulton Lambeth and cypher mark, 1875 . (from object file). Also under base, handwritten in black ink '[Ac. 2334]'. Also a rectangular white paper sticker handwritten in red biro '937'
