Description
Cloak clasp, silver, Celtic/ Britain, 60BC.
Circular silver cloak clasp or brooch, constructed from a single piece of silver wire forged flat on one side of the circle and engraved in a decorative manner, the other side has been left as a tapered wire and bent to form the clasp of the brooch. The wide flat section has been decorated centrally with a piece of wire bent into loops to form three circles in a pyramid formation and soldered with small discs centrally and at each base corner. The end of the wide arc terminates in two circular discs, to disguise the forged width changes.
