Needlework pictures, pair, silk / linen / wool / paint, maker unknown, [Britain], c. 1790 - 1800

Pair of portrait format needlework pictures on silk fabric, each with a central oval medallion of woman in a pastoral landscape. The oval shape is within a rectangle of black needlework with a flower motif in each corner. The faces and arms of both figures are painted, with the remainder of the images being created by varying types of silk and wool embroidery stitches. Images are backed with linen.
