Object statement
Toy bus, omnibus, metal, maker unknown, [Germany/ Australia], 1890-1920
The simple green paint work on this toy suggests it may have been modelled on an army troop transport, possibly from World War One.

There are no maker's marks on this toy. Its simple design and the presence of folded tabs at the joins and the absence of lithographed detailing suggest that it may be an early but relatively cheap German-made toy.

This date range is based upon the widespread introduction of tab joins for tin toys in Germany and the styling of the bus. It was possibly a World War One truck.
