The designer of this medallion is unknown

This medallion was made by Allan J Olson & Associates Pty Ltd, Adelaide, South Australia, 1995

Produced in 1995 for the centenary of the discovery of X-rays in 1895.
A set of medallions was produced by the Roentgen Centenary Committee in Adelaide in conjunction with events organised by them to commemorate the discovery of X-rays by Wilhelm Roentgen in November 1895, the first radiographs taken in South Australia (by William Henry Bragg in May 1896), and the developments in X-ray science and technology in the ensuing 100 years.

One of the events organised was an exhibition, for which the committee borrowed a Watson foot X-ray machine from the Powerhouse Museum collection. In appreciation of the interest and assistance of the Powerhouse and its staff, the committee donated a medallion to the museum, together with copies of the two commemorative posters it had produced.
