Object statement
Poster section, circus, 'Do Re Mi' company/ Arthur Jandaschewsky, paper, printed by Stewart Black Pty Ltd, Australia, 1910-1922
Designer unknown. Possibly designed by the printer Stewart Black Litho, Sydney.

Made by Stewart Black Pty Ltd, Lithographers, Sydney.

The Do-Re_Mi troupe performed in Australia during this time
The poster belonged to Thelma Job and her husband Harry Job, also known as Will Andrade. He ran Will Andrade's magic shop in Pitt St Sydney. There is some suggestion that Mrs Job worked with Jandy the clown (Arthur Jandaschewsky) as a dancer.

Description
Poster section, circus, 'Do Re Mi' company / Arthur Jandaschewsky, paper, printed by Stewart Black Pty Ltd, Australia, 1910-1922

First sheet from a three sheet poster advertising the Do Re Mi troupe. It has been either torn or roughly trimmed from the rest of the poster, which probably consisted of two other sheets which would have been placed above it.

Horizontal format colour printed poster, text and image overlaying multicoloured star and circle border and maroon and green background. Red border with white dots on left side, yellow stars on bottom and yellow dots on left side. Green background on left, maroon background on right. Overlaying the background and part of the border is the representation of a piece of sheet music with large treble clef and musical staff in black. 'Do' is printed on the sheet in large red and black letters. The sad face of a clown appears to burst through the page of sheet music on the right side. The text 'Absolutely unique' at bottom in black and white letters. The manufacturer's details are printed at the lower edge of the poster.
