Description
Moulds (2 pieces), for 'Aalto' vase, wood/rubber/metal, Iittala, 1936-1950s

The large wooden mould, made from a roughly cylindrical section tree log, with a rubber band bolted to the rim to form handles for holding. The centre is hollowed out in undulating free form vertical folds. The smaller wooden ladle was used to give the initiative form to the vase, prior to it entering the main mould. It is formed with a two sided scoop like head and a long handle.
