With the centralisation of mail handling in mail exchanges in the 1960s, new classes of workers were created. Mail sorters were employed in the parcels and other articles sections.

Uniform, mail sorter's dustcoat, polyester/cotton, Cushen Clothing Co, Australia, [1960-1980]

Blue coat with long sleeves, collar and lapels. There are four blue plastic buttons running along the center edge of the garment. A small fabric tab has been sewn to the back of the neck for hanging. The coat is 3/4 length with two pockets a the hip and one at the proper left breast area.
