This plastic sandal is based on the design of leather sandals. They were produced at the Qinghe Plastics Factory in Beijing Number One prison (Qing He Su Liao Chang) between 1965-1995, and are the most popular brand of plastic sandal in China. This style of sandal is worn by men and women of all classes, from peasants to cadres.

These shoes were made by the Qinghe Plastics Factory, Beijing Number One Prison in Beijing, China.

These sandals were made in 1976.

Collected by Sang Ye in Beijing in 1996 on behalf of the museum.

Pair of black moulded plastic sandals with flat heel. Cross over straps across toes at front, strap around ankle at back, metal buckle on side. Chinese characters and "28" moulded inside sole. Numbers and Chinese characters moulded under sole.
