The system has a rack that is capable of holding 20 x 12" optical discs (2 gigabytes per disk). Each disk can be automatically placed in one of two disk readers.

Marketed by Tower Technology. Superseded by new unit within 2 years. Used by Tower Technology as a mass storage unit for the development of their Tower Imaging System, a very large scale imaging application. The software is presently (1996) used by the Health Insurance Commission processing approximately 450,000 Medicare claim forms per day, the Australian Stock Exchange, NRMA Insurance, ICAC, National Crimes Aurthority, Ipec, Macquarie Bank, Department of Mineral resources and others.
The device was purchased by Tower to as an aid in the development of their Imaging System but was never installed on a customer site. Before the jukebox was two years old it was superceded by a smaller juke box with the capacity to store and retrieve 50 X 5", 6 gigabyte optical disks.

Computer optical disk storage & retrieval unit (-1), Large rectangular cabinet grey metal with a hinged lid and two doors at the front. Internal rack system for storage of disks of which 3 of the possible 20 x 12" optical disks are inside (2 in rack, one in reader).The reader is a microprocessor controlled electro-mechanical mechanism for selecting and transporting the cartridges. On the front of the lid on the right side is a control panel, a small brown touch pad with a numeric keyboard, a LCD screen at the top and keys for "next field", "Previous selection", "Next selection", "request", "cancel" and "enter". The insignia of Tower Technology is situated next to the keypad. At the rear in the lower right corner is a black panel with two fan outlets, two sockets for multi pin plugs, a power cord and two manufactures labels.

Seperated from the unit are the filters (2) and covers (2) for the fans, two power cables, with multi pin plugs and sockets, four double sided disk cartridges, two without packaging and two in packaging, and two manuals.
