Thermocouple temperature gauge, Ether Ltd, used at Farmer and Co/Grace Bros Sydney city store, made in England, c.1950. Rectangular metal box painted black with horizontal glass-fronted gauge marked from 0 to 1200 degrees F. Below the gauge is a dial that can be turned to any of four positions. The attached thermocouple would have been placed in one of the four cylinders of the Mirrlees diesel engine that was installed in the same room as the McLaren engine included in this acquisition. Labelled: Ether multipoint indicator; Ether Ltd, Erdington, Birmingham; Stevenson's Patent No 424694; type RSI 7/6; automatic cold junction compensated.

Also printed around centre point of circular dial, on lower part of gauge box, "ETHER LTD/ BIRMINGHAM ENGLAND/ ETHER MULTI POINT INDICATOR/ TYPE R.S.I.7.1.6."
