The 'front-end' was purchased from Airborne Instruments Laboratory and the rest was put together by Mal Sinclair and John Brooks from CSIRO Radiophysics.

Liquid helium is used to cool the receiver to 15 K. It is contained in a metal box with refrigeration equipment.
