Description
Robot, SCORBOT-ER III, metal/alloy/rubber/pvc/electrical components, Eshed Robotec, Tel Aviv, Israel, 1988

The SCORBOT-ER III is an educational robot. It is part of a robotics training system and comprises a mechanical arm and a multi-function controller providing a realistic emulation of an industrial type robotics system.

The SCORBOT-ER III system comprises a robot arm, controller and teach pedant (not with object).

The ROBOT ARM has an open vertically articulated mechanical arm that allows for the study of the mechanisms components (i.e., drives, gears, transmissions, differentials, lead screw, etc.). The arm has 5 axes, plus gripper, 6 DC servo motors with closed loop control, optical encoders on all axes and hard home (defining a fixed reference point position on all axes). The gripper is able to measure objects' sizes.

The CONTROLLER is capable of controlling 2 additional servo axes of peripheral equipment, as well as simultaneous control of all 8 axes. Eight outputs (four with relays) and 8 inputs allow extensive communication with the environment, and provide integration with all types of CNC machines and sensors in FMS cells. The controller supports a teach pendant, and the RS@#@C built-in interface allows for communication with a personal computer.
