Traditional dance ornaments of the Tiwi People, these items have been made the same traditional way for possibly thousands of years. This group of objects were made by three women, Juanita Tipiloura, Mary Margaret Orsto, and Marie Evelyn Pautjimi.

Neck ring, plant fibre & feather, Juanita Tipiloura, Mary Margaret Orsto Marie Evelyn Pautjimi, Tiwi People, Bathurst Island, Northern Territory, 1996-1997. Neck ring or tapalingini, formed from plant fibre. Ring painted in black, white, red and tan ochre sections. Four sets of dark coloured feathers attached to ring, two sets each side. Feathers fixed to plaited bush string with resin which is in turn attached to ring.
