According to Reid's grand daughter, Anne Fairbairn, this cane was presented to Reid after a serious car accident in 1911. It is uncertain what relationship Reid had to Crosshouse Public School. It has remained in the family since Reid's death in 1918.

Walking-stick, belonging to Sir George Reid, cane/bone/gold/rubber, England, 1911

Walking stick made of a single piece of tapered cane stained a dark brown colour, a protective, rubber piece has been attached to the base. The handle is undecorated and made of bone. At the top of the stick, just beneath the handle, is a small gold plaque with filigree pattern that bears the inscription 'Presented to Sir George H Reid G.C.M.G. By The Children of Crosshouse Public School'.
