97/232/4 Ladle, belonging to Sir George Reid, silver, Edinburgh, Scotland, 1810
Images: 01 02

The design is typical of late Georgian pieces of the Old English style.

While this ladle was made in 1810 it was inscribed 'GHR' 'Johnstone 1897' in 1897 probably to mark Reid's return to the town of his birth in Scotland.
This ladle has remained in the Reid family since Sir George acquired it in 1897, probably in Johnstone Scotland during his trip to Britain for the Silver Jubilee of Queen Victoria.
