It is unlikely that Reid was able to read Persian and therefore this book was acquired either as a gift or a memento of his trip to Egypt.
This book has remained in the Reid family since the death of Sir George in 1918.

Large bound book covered in a worn, soft, black cloth. This example of the classic Arabian story is written in Persian and bears the Persian date 1328, which translates into 1908 on the Christian calendar. The front cover (western back cover) has the title? in gold Persian script. There are a number of b/w illustrations throughout the book that depict scenes from the story. Owner, place and date in black pencil on the top of the second contents page, written 'G. H. Reid/ Cairo 1915'.
