The design of this coffee pot is typical of those made in the Middle East during the 19th century.
According to Anne Fairbairn, Reid's grand daughter, this coffee pot was one of several items acquired by Reid during his visit to Australian troops stationed in Egypt in 1914-15.

Brass coffeepot with a large, curved, beak-shaped spout, and a thin handle that supports a tall, thin, decorative, hinged lid.
