Object statement
Shirt, mens, silk, Pat Grummet, Australia, 1975-1977
Pat Grummet's medium is silk which she calls 'the essence of femaleness', its fluidity, sensuality, construction and disintergration leading her to use it to draw analogies with the complex existence of women. She has worked on large scale textile installations but here has scaled down her work for use in clothing.
The shirt demonstrates Grummet's sophisticated and unconventional use of the tie-dye technique.
