The ring was given to Ian Cook by John Gartner (founder of Hawthorn Press, Melbourne). John Donald Cook inherited the ring when Ian died in 1992.
The ring was presented to John Gartner by the Gutenberg Society on a visit to Germany. He gave the ring the Ian Cook out of regard for his technical expertise.

Gold metal signet ring. Flat rectangular face with inscription in red and black of the Gutenburg Society. The ring size looks like it had been changed in the past, join can be seen on bottom of the ring.
