Albumen photographic print, cabinet portrait of a young woman holding parasol, black & white, rectangular, portrait format, mounted on card with an advertisement for the photographer on the reverse. On the mount board below the photograph, there is a coat of arms and address and the maker's name "J Hubert Newman" printed in gold block lettering. On the reverse an advertisement for the company is printed in sepia ink, inside a decorative border, the advertisement reads: "Newman's Atelier, 314 George St, Sydney. Copies of this picture or high class enlargements by the non fading autotype platinotype or other process finished by the best artists in monochrome oils or water colors (sic) may be obtained from us at any time. Recipient of the only Australian award for portraiture at the Chicago Exhibition also prize medallist at every exhibition since 1870. Established 30 years."
