Description
Girdle, womens, cotton / synthetic, Berlei, Australia, 1935-1945.
Girdle made of pale apricot printed voile, printed with a sparse floral design in blue, pink and green. Wide panels of elasticised cotton at side seams and a small inset panel at front hem. Light boning front and back. Left front opening fastens with four metal hooks and eyes and a metal zipper. The zipper has a short length of apricot coloured cord attached to tab for easier use. Four suspenders around the hem. Partially lined with apricot cotton voile. Short opening at centre back at waist with lacing through metal eyelets. Elastic waistband at back.

Stamped inside centre back: 'GUARENTEED FITTED TO CORRECT TYPE 3049..29/Berlei TYPE AREA 3H/FOUNDATION MADE IN AUSTRALIA ACTUAL MEASUREMENT'. Inscribed inside back hem: 'NO PATTERN'. Apricot fabric label: 'WARNING/This slide/MUST be/pulled down...BERLEI LTD.'.
