Purchased by Sir George Reid in London in 1912, where he was Agent-General, and passed down the family to his grandaughter, Mrs A. Fairbairn.

Description
Mirror, girandole, wood/metal/composition/gilt, England, 1850-1900

An overmantle mirror surrounded by an elaborate Rococo Revival style frame. Made of metal, compound plaster and gilt. Decorated four candle sconces. Decorated with many protruding vines, tendrils, figures of birds, flowers, figures of Pan, stalagmites and other fantastic rococo ornamentation asymmetrically arranged. Enclosing modern glass. Belonged to Sir George Reid, former Prime Minister of Australia.
