The medallions were produced in a limited number to commemorative the opening the Sydney Harbour Tunnel in 1992. The were designed by Mr Ross Pratley of the Coin Colony, Greenwich, NSW, and manufactured by the medallists, Amor-Sanders Pty Ltd of Surry Hills. NSW. The medallions were advertised for sale in a special souvenir postcard in the Telegraph Mirror in conjunction with a competition for one of two solid gold official "Tunnel" medals minted, with an estimated value of $1,000. A royalty payment is made to the NSW Institute for Deaf and Blind Children with every medal, postcard and souvenir publication sold.

Medal (-1) and postcard package (-2:5), commemorative, opening of Sydney Harbour tunnel, metal/cardboard, Ross Pratley/Amor-Sanders Pty Ltd, Australia, 1992
The two medallions are identical except for the fact that they are finished in different materials, namely antique gold finish and solid sterling silver. The medallions depict the logo of the Sydney Harbour Tunnel Company Pty Limited on one side with the wording " THE SYDNEY HARBOUR TUNNEL", while the other side features a scene facing north showing the southern entry and exit of the four lane tunnel and by-pass ramps, with the wording "OPENED AUGUST 1992".
The twelve postcards are two identical sets of six different scenes showing the construction of the Tunnel.
