Object statement
Cabinet, combination gramophone, radio and cocktail bar with contents, wood/glass/metal, Tudor/Garrard, Australia/England, 1946-1948
Tudor made the cabinet. Garrard are the makers of the gramophone system that is installed into the cabinet

Purchased new sometime between 1947-1948
The object was purchased new by Mr Marks (vendor) in 1947 or 1948 and used by him at home until the late 1970s. Thereafter it was kept in the vendor's flat but not used as an entertainment system. Mr Marks was the proprietor of Australia's main music typesetting company, Harmony Musicopy Service, from 1961 to 1990. Many transcriptions from disc made by the company were done with the aid of this machine.
