In 1965 the Sarawak Government recognised Hedda Morrison's services to Sarawak through photography, by awarding her the Pegawai Bintang Sarawak (Officer of the Order of the Star of Sarawak), the equivalent of an Order of the British Empire or OBE.

A letter from the Chief Minister of Sarawak to Hedda Morrison advising of his recommendation to 'His Excellency the Governor' to confer upon Hedda the honour of 'Pegawai Bintang Sarawak (Honorary)'. The letter is from the Chief Minister's Office, Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia. It is marked 'Private and Confidential' and signed by 'Dato Stephen Kalong Ningkan, Chief Minister, Sarawak'.
