Object statement
Pendants (3), boar tusk, Fiji, c. 1890
The pig's top 2 incisor teeth are removed and thus the lower teeth continue to grow without resistance. The most prized tooth is one which spirals several times. A tooth was presented to Queen Elizabeth II from the people of Vanuatu which spiralled 3 times. These tusks were banked and used as currency in Vanuatu.
