Description

Man's swimsuit, for water polo, as worn by the Australian team at the 1980 Moscow Olympic Games, nylon / lycra, Speedo Australia Pty Ltd, Australia, 1980.
Navy blue nylon / lycra brief with [rubberized] waterproof coating, elastized leg and drawstring waist threaded with white nylon cord. A narrow white ribbon trim applied vertically down the right hip, a narrow white mesh "breeze" insertion at the crotch. Large white transfer printed 'AUSTRALIA' applied across the left front, machine embroidered black and red boomerang and Speedo logo applied at lower right hip.

Printed fabric label with boomerang logo, 'SPEEDO / 18 (36") TO FIT WAIST 90 cm / 80% NYLON / 20% ELASTANE / (LYCRA)'. On reverse are printed wshing instructions and 'MADE IN AUSTRALIA'.
