Teapot, earthenware, Maylands Pottery, South Australia, 1895-1905
Large teapot, with cover, earthenware, press-moulded, with a low circular foot, tapering swollen cylindrical body with vertical strip facets, an angular d-shaped handle with pointed thumb rest and an erect and tapering faceted spout, rim of the opening at top with two cover catch protrusions and a small ledge set within as rest for the recessed cover (-2) of pointed form with a small acorn knop, a small indentation in rim for cover catch and a short vertical flange set below, the teapot is decorated with a relief moulded "Wheat Sheaf" design on both sides and the handle and spout are detailed with moulded ears of wheat, the cover is decorated with moulded [leaves], lead glazed with an all over glossy dark brown Rockingham glaze.
