Teapot, earthenware, Maylands Pottery, South Australia, 1890-1895
Teapot, with cover, earthenware, press-moulded, with a low circular foot, tapering swollen cylindrical body, a flat strap loop handle with raised thumb rest and an erect and tapering spout, rim of the opening at top with two cover catch protrusions, a small ledge set within as rest for the recessed cover (-2) of pointed form with a small acorn knop, a small indentation in rim for cover catch and a short vertical flange set below, the teapot is decorated with relief-moulded "Mother and Child" medallions on both sides below a raised beaded band which encircles the upper body, lead glazed with an all over glossy reddish brown Rockingham glaze
