Jar, stoneware, J H Trewenack, South Australia, 1850-1890
Storage jar, with original cover, stoneware, wheel-thrown, 2 gallons ; (-1) the large squat cylindrical container has a flat base, straight sides, an angled shoulder and a flaring neck, there is a band of distinctive coggle impressed decoration encircling the upper body, a single later drilled hole in the base, (-2) the near flat circular cover has a small flattened central knop and is decorated with a matching coggle impressed design, the interior and exterior are salt glazed a pale golden brown colour.
