Magdeburg hemispheres: brass hemispheres with handles, all brass construction; inside hemisphere is a small hole at top, with valve nut on handle arm; 9099-1 is mate of 9099-2 (OF). List of Swiss and German Educational Collections:- Physical apparatus the use of which is obligatory in all the Public secondary schools of the Canton of Zurich, Switzerland:- 1 (SB). Magdeburg sphere: All brass with two handles, sphere 2 1/4" dia., overall length 8 1/4" (LC).
