Reconstruction, 'Puppet Theatre', puppets, architectural panels, fittings and theatre props, wood/plastic/ceramic/fabric/metal/paint, from 'The Yellow House', by George Gittoes, Australia, 1970-1990
This room with painted polychromatic walls, ceiling and floor in the 'Psychedelic' style incorporates a puppet theatre and various decorative elements. It is a recreation by the original artist/designer (using original fittings & elements) of a highly significant interior of the early 1970s, which
1. exerted a major influence on Australian art, design and performing art
2. was a 'Mecca' for Australian and visiting international artists, designers, literati, performing artists and celebrities, and
3. represents an outstanding local example of the 'Psychedelic' style and it's manifestation in Australia, possibly the only major example of its kind in existence.
A 1990 recreation of a 1970s interior including some original features.
Formerly exhibited at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, the Puppet Theatre is accompanied by some fittings and props from original Puppet Theatre of the 1970s.

Reconstruction of the Puppet Theatre room from the 'Yellow House', consisting of painted polychromatic walls, ceiling and floor panels in the 'Psychedelic' style incorporating a puppet theatre and various decorative elements. A recreation by the original artist/designer (using original fittings & elements) of a highly significant interior of the early 1970s.
Consists of:
(-1/1:3) Puppets; (-2:10) various theatre props; (-11/1:8) seats; (-12/1:4) Light globes and fixtures; (-13) stained glass panel; (-14/1:2) windows; (-15/1:3) doors and door handle; (-16/1:13) wall panels; (-17/1:3) ceiling panels; (-18/1:5) floor panels; (-19:21) architectural props; (-22) fittings.
