Object statement
Tea-cosy, machine knitted wool/ceramic, 'Jest a Cosy', Jennifer Layther, Adelaide, 1988
The domestic history area has a particular interest in home-made, utilitarian textiles which includes a collection of tea-cosies. This modern interpretation using quite a sophisticated knitting technique makes a striking contrast to the conventinal knitted cosy.
Exhibited at the 'Big Birthday bash Post Modernist Heritage Week teapot cosy exposition', Jam Factory, Adelaide 1988

Each row of triangles alternated in colour from black and grey to black and yellow/orange and are staggered so that each row fills the gap left between the trangles in other rows. The cosy has been knitted as one piece. An opening is on either side for spout and handle.
