Teapot, earthenware, Koster's Premier Pottery, South Australia, 1930-1940
Teapot, with cover, earthenware, unusual and rare modernist form known to be an experimental model, with a low circular foot and low and wide lower body with rounded sides, the upper part of the teapot features a scooped shoulder which tapers away sharply then rises to a near cylindrical neck, a small and angular d-shaped handle is set at the back of the neck and a small and erect curved spout rises from the shoulder at the front, the opening at top with inset ledge as rest for the recessed cover (-2) of low circular form with a small cutaway at rim and a small waisted conical knop, the underside of cover with short vertical flange, all over glossy mid-brown Rockingham glaze.
