Jar, stoneware, Koster's Premier Pottery, South Australia, 1888-1900
Storage jar, with cover, stoneware, wheel-thrown, one gallon capacity, the tall cylindrical container with a flat base, straight sides and a narrow angled shoulder which tapers to a short everted neck with thick lipped rim, a pair of horseshoe-shaped lug handles set below the shoulder, the wide mouth with a narrow ledge within to support the recessed cover (-2) of low circular form with flattened knop set in a central indentation ; the jar exterior lead glazed with a two-tone Bristol glaze, the interior is clear glazed and the underside is unglazed, the cover exterior dark Bristol glazed and cover underside is unglazed.

Marks
Capacity mark "1 GALL" is impressed on the cover only, the storage jar is unmarked.
