Jar, stoneware, J H Trewenack, South Australia, 1870-1900
Storage jar, with original cover, stoneware, the jar (-1) of squat cylindrical form with a flat base, straight sides, an angled shoulder and a flaring neck, a distinctive band of coggle impressed decoration encircles the upper body, the cover (-2) of near flat circular form with a small flattened central knop, incised lines encircle the knop, lead glazed with a two-tone Bristol glaze.
