Capturing the stories To create the exhibition, Museum staff captured many oral histories and interviewed people who had worked closely with Bruno Benini: Hazel Benini, Bruno’s widow and the stylist and co-producer of many of Bruno’s photos; Di Lisle-Williams (formerly Di Comben), assistant in the Benini studio during the 1970s; and Jan Powell (formerly Jan Stewart) one of Bruno's favourite models.
Sharing stories
Three photographers, and members of their teams, shared insights into their creative work during the 2010 Sydney Design festival. The Museum recorded their stories and pictures on video: photographer David Mist revisited his archive in the basement; urban stylist and photographer Fernando Frisoni was joined by Shelly Horton, the Sun Herald’s Editor at large, for a Q&A; and photographer Juli Balla discussed how she ‘creates the look’ with stylist Matt Stegh and makeup artist Rae Morris.
