Design talk with Maarten Baas
Tuesday 17 November
6.30pm – 8pm

Bookings essential
Hear this international design star in the only public talk of his visit! At just 31 years of age, Dutch designer Maarten Baas is a striking young talent who has already made his mark in the international design scene. Beginning with his controversial 'Smoke' collection (in which he methodically burned furniture with a blow torch and then 'salvaged' the pieces by coating them in translucent resin sealer), Baas' work has transformed the way collectors understand the landscape of contemporary design and has opened the market to a younger generation of designers.
In Sydney as special guest judge for this year's Bombay Sapphire Design Discovery Award, Baas will speak about his astonishing career to date and the varied and exciting body of work which has seen him ascend to the height of his profession. Hosted by Vogue Living editor David Clark.
Join us for complimentary Bombay Sapphire cocktails from 6.30pm, Baas' talk will commence at 7pm sharp.
BOOK NOW or phone 02 9217 0222 ($15).
Presented by Vogue Living and Bombay Sapphire in collaboration with the Powerhouse Museum
